New Vaccination Service Available at Bangkok Hospital Medical Center
Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) August 25, 2008 -- Bangkok Hospital is now offering vaccination packages for overseas travel, allowing stop-over travelers to complete their required and optional vaccinations at a reduced cost.
Bangkok Hospital Medical Center's International Medical Services (http://www.bangkokhospital.com/eng/InterMedicalCenter.aspx) department is now offering travel vaccination packages.
These packages are conveniently designated by region of travel. The department is now offering packages for travel to South East Asia, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
Vaccinations are always a recommendation before overseas travel, and there are some countries to which destination governments also make them a necessity. For example, many Middle Eastern countries require proof of meningococcal vaccination for access to the country, and yellow fever vaccination certificates may be required for entry into other countries.
Bangkok Hospital has taken these requirements into consideration when planning their vaccination packages, so that each package includes required vaccinations for travel to an area.
The vaccination packages (http://www.bangkokhospital.com/eng/Vac_TravelMedicine.aspx) include combinations of Hepatitis a, Hepatitis b, Rabies verorab, Thyphim, Vaxigrip Adult, Meningococcal and Polio vaccines. All vaccination packages include a physical examination before administration to ensure the patient is in sufficient physical health to receive the vaccines, with no contra indicative conditions.
The vaccines are administered by the hospital's International Medical Services department, which has facilities for translation in 26 foreign languages, and also assists with health insurance procedures with Thai and international providers.
The International Medical Services center also liaises on a patients behalf with embassies and other international institutions and organisations, has preferential room rates deals with many local hotels, and caters to special cultural dietary requirements. The center offers free consultation and medical advice over the internet for patients before they leave their home country.
These vaccination packages are often much cheaper than those available in other Western or European countries to those without medical insurance. The packages range from 6,000 baht to 7,700 baht (US$180 to $230 at current rates).
The vaccinations are available from the Travel Medicine Clinic at the International Medical Services Center of Bangkok Hospital, from 8 a.m. to p.m., Monday to Saturday.
The number of medical tourists is increasing every year, and Thailand is currently the world's most popular medical tourism destination. Approximately 600,000 tourists visit Thailand every year and avail themselves of local medical services.
Tourism contributes around 5% of Thailand's GDP, and Bangkok is one of the top stop-over destinations for international flights.
